So there we were Prince of Wales, St Kilda, ( I thought table and chairs......... cabaret type of arrangement, but no), lewd Paulie, Brass Holes and crowding surfing.

LEGENDARY Melbourne punk band the Painters & Dockers will emerge from retirement to be inducted into the EG Hall of Fame and play a final gig at the EG Awards at St Kilda's Prince Bandroom on November 20.
The band, formed in 1982 for a one-off benefit gig to pay a friend's parking fines, had a reputation for wild shows and being prepared to play anywhere such as on suburban trains for Rockin' the Rails gigs, on a boat for Rockin' the Docks, on the 20th floor of a building site and on a picket line.
Flamboyant lead singer Paul Stewart, whose brother Tony was one of the "Balibo five" killed in East Timor in 1975, has had an eventful few years, captured in the ABC documentary My Brother, Balibo and Me.
He underwent a successful liver transplant, worked on the soundtrack to Robert Connolly's film Balibo with his more recent band the Dili Allstars and does charity work for disadvantaged East Timorese.
"At one stage there in hospital dying two years ago of liver failure I only ever dreamt of 'Docking' again," Stewart said.
Singer-guitarist Chris O'Connor said: "I was never going to play ever again. But I thought 'This is something I wouldn't want to miss out on'. It's been good to see the guys again, let some water under the bridge and do it one more time."
The band will be joined at the EG awards by high-octane rockers the Dacios and house band the EG Allstars, with guest singers Tex Perkins, Bertie Blackman, Dan Sultan, Henry Wagons, the Wolfgramm Sisters and Jack Howard's horn section.
The event, hosted by Triple R's Fee Fee Bamford-Bracher, will celebrate the best local music of 2009. Readers can vote for the awards from October 16.
